The Best Roach Killer - How to Get Rid of Household Pests?

It is said that cockroaches incredibly belong to a hardy group of insects and eliminating them totally is impossible to fulfill. In fact, some people in the know believe that cockroaches were already around when dinosaurs ruled the earth and probably will still be here when the human race bids farewell. How to get rid of household pests such as bugs has haunted humans for several millennia now, since the best roach killer solution can only kill the bugs upon contact, but never eradicate the whole colony.

What makes cockroaches hard to eradicate? Most types of cockroaches can survive a month without water and around two to three months without food. Thus, killing them by depriving the intake of said nutrients is not a solution. Roaches can also survive days even when their heads are decapitated because these insects breathe through their spiracles or openings throughout the body -- the head is simply used to drink water and eat food. In addition, these bugs are known to develop resistance to pesticides that makes killing them hard. The best roach killer now will no longer be effective in the future because of their tendency to develop immunity to a prescribed pesticide.

How to get rid of household pests (roaches) is not as easy as it seems because some homeowners hire professional services to do the job effectively -- hiring professionals incidentally is the best option to free the homes and apartments of these bugs. Hereunder are some of the best roach killer methods used to kill bugs.

Live roach traps. Designed to attract cockroaches into the trap by providing some form of bait, roach traps allow entry but prevent the bugs from climbing out of the trap. A manufactured product can be purchased at nearby stores or it could also be made at home using a bowl with steep sides coated with petroleum jelly so roaches cannot climb back out -- the bait is placed at the base of the bowl.

Use of boric acid powder. When used as an insecticide, the harsh particles cause rapid abrasions to the roaches shell or cuticle. Once damage is inflicted on their body, evaporation takes over and the bug will dry-out and eventually die of dehydration.

Make use of bait cavities. The process is similar to roach traps, but the bait is integrated with deadly molds that are only harmful to roaches and not to humans and pets. Other forms use pheromones to attract the roaches to eat the deadly poison.

Roach spray canisters. Use permethrin, imiprothrin or cypermethrin, all chemicals in liquid or powder form especially formulated to kill cockroaches.

Sticky traps or gels. Sticky traps are designed to immobilize the roaches and eventually kill when they literally stick to the chemical laden surface.

The process on how to get rid of household pests is really a matter of choice, since any one of the mentioned best roach killer can be relied upon to do the job. However, while all of the above remedies attack the roaches head-on, others prefer the Insect Growth Regulators (IGR) devised to sterilize immature roaches, so reproduction will not be possible when they become adults.

Remember that how to rid household pests is not as easy as it sounds, particularly when dealing with roaches. Pick the type of solution that not only stops but also prevent pests from coming back.
